This textbook was developed in accordance with the basic principles of TCM planning textbooks for general higher education and in line with the spirit of promoting the development and reform of TCM education. Principles of TCM Gynecology is a core clinical course for TCM programs, with the teaching objective of enabling students to master, familiarize themselves with, and understand the physiological, pathological characteristics of females, as well as the differential diagnosis and treatment of common gynecological conditions such as menstruation, leucorrhea, pregnancy, postpartum disorders, and miscellaneous diseases. The content of this textbook highlights innovation, scientific rigor, systematic structure, standardization, and practicality, aiming to cultivate students' thinking methods and practical skills, thereby fostering applied talents in TCM disciplines at the undergraduate level.
The textbook consists of 7 chapters in the General Part, which explain the fundamental principles of TCM gynecology. Additionally, there are 7 chapters in the Specific Part, which cover the differential diagnosis and treatment of common gynecological diseases. According to historical records and practical needs, a chapter on labor and delivery diseases has been added to bridge the gap between pregnancy-related and postpartum conditions. The prepubic diseases previously included in gynecological miscellaneous disorders have been separated into a dedicated chapter due to their distinct anatomical and physiological features. For each specific disease, a "Diagnosis and Differential Diagnosis" section has been added to meet the requirements of dual diagnoses (TCM and Western medicine) in clinical case records. At the end of the book, basic knowledge of gynecology and obstetrics, as well as family planning, is provided to accommodate the needs of clinical practice. This textbook is suitable for undergraduate TCM programs and can also be used as a teaching reference for other levels.
