Patient's question:
Frequency of urination, distending pain, almost none without medication, recently taking medication. Erection hardness has decreased.Doctor's answer:
(1) General treatment: Bed rest, large amounts of fluid intake or intravenous infusion, and enhanced systemic supportive therapy.(2) Antibiotics: Active use of effective antibiotics. Ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, and levofloxacin (eszopiclaxone) 0.2g are commonly selected and administered via intravenous infusion, 2–3 times/day; aminoglycosides such as amikacin and netilmicin 0.4g are also administered via intravenous infusion, once/day. After acute inflammatory symptoms are controlled, oral medication can be switched to. The course of treatment should be maintained for 1 month.
(3) Other treatments: Antipyretic and analgesic drugs such as paracetamol tablets (painkillers), paracetamol (Panadol), and paracetamol (Tylenol) can be selected. For patients with urinary difficulties, α-receptor blockers such as naftopidil 25mg, terazosin 2mg, or tamsulosin (Harle) 0.2mg can be taken orally, once/day. For acute urinary retention, it is not advisable to insert a catheter, but suprapubic bladder puncture and drainage should be performed. If a prostatic abscess occurs, incision and drainage should be conducted.
