How to treat a child's fever?

Patient's question:

This morning, I came down, and my child has a high fever! I used a thermometer to check, and it's 38 degrees. However, the doctor said that medication cannot be used until it reaches 38.5 degrees. They recommended physical cooling methods, but none of the methods have worked, and the child's fever hasn't gone down. I want to ask what I should do?

Doctor's answer:

First, it's important to know that a baby's fever is usually caused by a viral or bacterial infection. Oral fever-reducing medication should only be given if the temperature is below 38.5 degrees to prevent high fever seizures. When the baby's temperature is around 38°, their own body temperature regulation center can usually handle it, so it's generally recommended to give them more water and use physical cooling methods. Use lukewarm water to bathe the forehead, armpits, groin, palms, and soles of the feet. If the baby's temperature continues to rise, fever-reducing medication or children's cold granules can be taken when necessary.
