Does a hernia belt have a high chance of curing a hernia?

Patient's question:

My baby was found to have a hernia on the left side when he was 7-8 months old. However, it wasn't very serious at that time—it wouldn't drop unless he cried or fussed. Now he's 1 year and 2 months old, and the other day I noticed it often drops down. It goes back in when he sleeps flat, but occasionally I hear a gurgle and there's also vomiting.

Doctor's answer:

Hernia is a weak or torn area in the abdominal muscles of the human body, causing fat tissue or other human organs such as intestines to protrude outward through this location, forming a noticeable bulge under the skin, accompanied by discomfort and pain. Symptoms are particularly more pronounced when standing for long periods, during urination or defecation, or when lifting heavy objects. There is no medication that can treat a hernia; the only option is surgical repair to fix the defect.
