Does a hernia belt have a high chance of curing a hernia?

Patient's question:

My baby was found to have a hernia on the left side when he was 7-8 months old. At that time, it wasn't very serious—it wouldn't come down unless he cried or fussed. Now he's 1 year and 2 months old. The past two days, I've noticed it often comes down, goes back up when he sleeps flat, and occasionally I hear gurgling sounds, with vomiting as well.

Doctor's answer:

Hernia is a weak or torn area in the abdominal muscles of the human body, causing fat tissue or other internal organs like intestines to protrude outward through this location, forming a noticeable bulge under the skin, accompanied by discomfort and pain. Symptoms are particularly more pronounced when standing for long periods, during urination or defecation, or when lifting heavy objects. There is no medication to treat hernia; the only option is surgical repair to fix the defect.
