Features: The EU has utilized various elements of technical standardization in building barriers through standardization, including technical standards, technical regulations, and conformity assessment. Enterprises in China with the capability and conditions have, while supporting the Ministry of Commerce of China in advocating for reasonable arguments with the EU, developed new lighter products that comply with the CR Act requirements and have applied for patents. However, more Chinese lighter manufacturers, especially those producing toy lighters, may face the same consequences as their counterparts after the implementation of the U.S. CR Act in 1994—finally having to completely withdraw from the target market.
