Features: "The Roster of the People's Liberation Army Commanders," which compiles the biographies and photographs of marshals and generals promoted to rank between 1955 and 1964. The book is published in volumes. Marshals and field marshals are arranged according to the official list released at the time. Others are ordered by seniority as senior generals, medium-ranking generals, and junior generals, with names within the same rank sorted by stroke order. Generals promoted between 1955 and 1964, including those promoted after 1988 (inclusive) with higher ranks than those before, are introduced in the text but not reflected in the roster order. The volume includes 10 marshals, 10 field marshals, 57 senior generals, and 177 medium generals. 1,360 junior generals are divided between the second and third volumes.
