Patient's question:
Lately, I've been feeling discomfort on my glans. Last night while taking a shower, I noticed white particles on my glans. What are white particles on the glans?Doctor's answer:
Your condition should be classified as balanitis. The fundamental principle of Western medicine treatment is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Generally, it involves both internal and external treatments. For the treatment of acute superficial balanitis and annular erosive balanitis, erythromycin and tetracycline are the first-line medications. Typically, 0.5g is taken four times a day. For trichomoniasis balanitis, metronidazole is the first-line treatment, with a dosage of 0.2g taken three times a day for 10 days. For balanitis caused by Candida albicans, it is commonly treated with griseofulvin or itraconazole. Griseofulvin is administered at a dose of 100,000 to 200,000 units twice a day, while itraconazole is taken at 100mg twice a day for 7 days.
