Patient's question:
I heard there are many types of balanitis, and I want to know what are the types of balanoposthitis?Doctor's answer:
1. Circumferential Erosive Balanitis: On the glans and foreskin, visible erythema gradually expands in a ring shape, which can form superficial ulcers.2. Acute Superficial Balanitis: Initially, local redness occurs, with the skin of the penis becoming red and swollen. A burning and itchy sensation is felt on the glans. When the foreskin is retracted, erythema, erosion, and exudation can be seen on the inner surface of the foreskin and the glans, even with bleeding. Secondary infection may lead to small ulcers and foul-smelling, creamy purulent discharge. Pain is felt upon friction with underwear, and patients often experience difficulty in movement. It may be accompanied by swollen and tender inguinal lymph nodes.
3. Trichomoniasis Balanitis: Papules and erythema appear on the glans, gradually expanding with clear margins. Tiny vesicles the size of needles can be seen on the erythema, which eventually form eroded surfaces.
