Patient's question:
What tests are done for prostatitis? Which kind of hospital is better to go to? How is the fee?Doctor's answer:
Common examination methods for prostatitis:1. Digital rectal examination: The prostate appears full, enlarged, soft in texture, and slightly tender. In cases with longer duration of illness, the prostate may shrink, become harder, and have an uneven texture with small hard nodules. At the same time, the method of prostatic massage is used to obtain prostatic fluid for a routine examination.
2. Prostatic fluid examination: If more than 10 white blood cells are observed in a high-power microscopic field of view in the prostatic fluid, and the amount of lecithin corpuscles is reduced, it can be diagnosed as prostatitis. If bacterial culture is performed simultaneously, a clear diagnosis and classification of chronic prostatitis can be made. If the bacterial culture result of prostatic fluid is positive, it is diagnosed as chronic bacterial prostatitis; conversely, it is diagnosed as chronic non-bacterial prostatitis.
3. Instrumental examination: Cystoscopy or urethroscopy may show no abnormalities, or may reveal congestion and edema in the prostatic segment of the urethra, with or without inflammatory polyps.
