How to solve phimosis

Patient's question:

I have felt since I was young that my penis was different from others when playing with friends. There seems to be something covering the head of my penis, and it needs to be peeled off to urinate. When I was young, I didn't think it was too serious, but now I know it might be a problem with excessive foreskin, so I want to go to the hospital for a proper check-up.

Doctor's answer:

Penile prepuce overhang: Refers to the condition where the glans penis of the male reproductive organ is completely covered by the prepuce; when the overhanging prepuce completely encloses and adheres to the glans, making it impossible for the glans to be exposed, it is then called phimosis. Most infants and young children have a common prepuce, which serves to protect the glans and urethral meatus. However, after puberty, it is best for the prepuce to retract behind the corona of the glans, which helps with personal hygiene and future sexual hygiene. If there is still a significant overhang of the prepuce after puberty, it is recommended to undergo a prepuce circumcision procedure. For infants and children, circumcision is generally advised only if there is recurrent prepuce inflammation or severe phimosis leading to urinary difficulties and urinary tract infections. Our hospital adopts the Korean micro-sculpting technique, which allows patients to return to work and study immediately after treatment. Recovery takes about one week, and sexual activity can be resumed after one month. This is a painless and minimally invasive procedure.
