Patient's question:
I have a long history of masturbation. Recently, I saw some articles online saying that long-term masturbation may lead to the occurrence of prostatitis. I would like to ask the doctor, how can I determine if I have prostatitis, and what are the common symptoms of prostatitis?Doctor's answer:
Hello! Common symptoms of prostatitis include:1. Pain: The posterior urethra may have a burning sensation or crawling feeling. Pain in the perineum or anal area can radiate to the lumbar-sacral region, groin, suprapubic area, penis, testicles, and occasionally to the abdomen.
2. Urinary system symptoms: Inflammation affecting the urethra may cause mild frequent urination, urgency, and dysuria. Some patients may experience terminal hematuria, and mucus or purulent secretions may be discharged from the urethral meatus before morning urination or during defecation.
3. Physiological dysfunction: This may include reduced libido, impotence, premature ejaculation, painful ejaculation, increased frequency of nocturnal emissions, and in some cases, hematospermia or reduced sperm motility due to inflammation of the male reproductive tract, leading to infertility.
4. Neurological symptoms: Due to a lack of proper understanding of the condition or prolonged treatment failure, patients may experience depression, fatigue, and insomnia.
5. Secondary symptoms: Due to caused by bacterial toxins, symptoms such as conjunctivitis, iritis, arthritis, and neuritis may occur. Enlarged prostate, difficulty urinating (including weakness and intermittent urination), frequent urination (especially at night), strain, dribbling, or inability to empty the bladder.
Acute prostatitis: Frequent urination, difficulty urinating, burning sensation during urination, chills, fever, pain in the lower back and scrotum, and blood in the urine.
Chronic prostatitis: Frequent urination, difficulty urinating, pelvic and genital pain, painful ejaculation, creamy semen, and sexual dysfunction. Generally, if you have the above symptoms, you can determine that you have prostatitis.
