Features: The function of education is not only to impart the accumulated experience, knowledge, and skills of predecessors but also increasingly valued function is to develop individual potential and improve national quality. The "Enlightenment Abacus Mental Arithmetic Experiment" established by Mr. Chen Zijing, based on the psychological characteristics of young children—such as their love for play, movement, competition, imitation, and strong mechanical memory—adopts an educational method of "teaching through songs, attracting through scenes, touching through emotions, and entertaining through dance." This method effectively cultivates children's attention, memory, observation, and imagination. It not only rapidly enhances children's computational abilities but also fosters their strong interest in learning, good learning habits, and positive thinking qualities. More importantly, through whole-brain development, it nurtures children's creativity and promotes the early development of their potential. This book is one of the "Enlightenment Abacus Mental Arithmetic Achievement Test Papers" developed by Chen Zijing. Mr. Chen Zijing, a member of the 7th National People's Congress, has been devoted to researching abacus mental arithmetic since the late 1970s. Over the past two decades, looking back at Mr. Chen Zijing's teaching journey, it is not difficult to find the following:
(1) His "Abacus-Mind Fast Calculation" and teaching method, originally limited to Shanxi, have now spread to many provinces, cities, and districts. Although sister provinces have subsequently developed their own fast calculation teaching methods, none have surpassed the scope of Chen's "One-Word Clear" and "One-Glance Complete." In terms of timing, no one was able to train (large batches of competitors) earlier than Chen Zijing.
(2) The contribution of Chen Zijing's teaching method lies in transforming what people consider "highly difficult" science and technology into something accessible through the "Seeking Differences in Similarity and Finding Similarity in Differences" of the "Similarity Theory" and the "Similarity Association" of young children, thereby simplifying complexity. He presented this in a popular "children's song" format, extending its application to preschool and kindergarten. This was a pioneering effort both domestically and internationally. His experiments provided the conditions for the early development of children's intelligence and the emergence of "mental calculation geniuses." His young competitors created a sensation during their performances in Hong Kong, with major media reporting: "Chinese prodigies, astonishing intelligence!" A television series set against the backdrop of Chen Zijing's teaching activities, 《》 (The Mental Calculator, which won the Flying Award), was broadcast continuously on China Central Television, sparking public attention and curiosity. Afterward, Chen Zijing's abacus mental arithmetic spread widely both domestically and internationally.
(3) Chen Zijing's Enlightenment Abacus Mental Arithmetic has continued to develop. He not only combined abacus, pen, hand, and brain calculations but also advocated a joyful teaching method of singing, chanting, jumping, and dancing. This not only enables children to achieve synchronous advancement in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division after learning but also makes exponentiation and square roots easier. Moreover, it promotes children's cognitive development, achieving the goal of whole-brain development. To promote this advanced and easily disseminated enlightenment method, the Primary School Pinyin News Agency invested significant human and financial resources to assist the elderly Mr. Chen Zijing in compiling a set of 11 books titled 《》 (Chen Zijing's Enlightenment Abacus Mental Arithmetic), which were officially published by Hope Publishing House. This is the crystallization of Mr. Chen's lifelong efforts and a precious cultural asset of our country. We sincerely hope that this scientific research achievement will be widely promoted in "children's playgrounds" both domestically and internationally.
