How to treat rickets

Patient's question:

Recently, I noticed that the little one sweats a lot during the first half of the night when sleeping. After researching, I suspect they might have rickets. How should rickets be treated?

Doctor's answer:

Rickets are caused by abnormal bone fibrosis due to calcium and phosphorus metabolic disorders resulting from a lack of vitamin D. Mild cases may exhibit symptoms of increased nervous system excitability, such as excessive sweating, easily startled during naps, and tremors. More severe cases may include conditions like pigeon chest, "X" legs, and "O" legs. In treatment, the focus is primarily on digesting vitamin D and calcium. During acute phases, vitamin D3 can be administered under anesthesia, while routine preventive use of vitamin D, such as vitamin AD drops, is recommended. Oral calcium gluconate solution should also be taken. In daily life, it's important to consume foods high in calcium, such as eggs, milk, and lean meat. Exposing oneself to sunlight and spending more time outdoors can help prevent vitamin D deficiency.
