Features: This book is not a monograph but a collection of speeches. Some say that economists, though lacking power and money, possess a voice, which is why some are willing to associate with them, allowing the economics community to serve their interests. In reality, in modern society, the power of influence is achieved through the media, and economists have no control over media outlets. Therefore, they do not possess greater influence than ordinary citizens—everyone has equal influence, with the only difference being professional distinctions. Economists can only gain social status when their research is recognized by society. Thus, those economists who hold no leadership positions or resource allocation power derive their social status and recognition purely from their own efforts—the result of their ideas being accepted by society. We should respect their hard work.
Enterprises are the organizers of social productivity, and various production factors can only create wealth within enterprises, making them the primary carriers of productivity. Enterprises provide employment opportunities for society, tax revenue for the government, products and services for the market, and investment opportunities for investors. Therefore, enterprises are the foundation of the modern economic and social system. Without the development of enterprises, there can be no social progress or economic prosperity. Consequently, every one of us should pay attention to and support enterprises, never attacking them simply because of certain issues they may face.
