Patient's question:
Detailed condition and consultation purpose: Prostate stones, with chlamydia infection. Hope to get everyone's help. Sincerely thank you!Doctor's answer:
Hello: For asymptomatic static prostate stones, treatment is not necessary. Regular observation can be used to monitor changes. Only when prostate stones cause severe infection or other complications, and drug treatment is ineffective, surgical treatment can be considered. There are three methods for surgical treatment of prostate stones:
(1) The most common method is transurethral resection of the prostate and stones. This is often used for younger patients to avoid sexual dysfunction and can also be used for the elderly and frail to reduce physical impact. The disadvantage is that it is difficult to completely remove the stones.
(2) For deep-seated or multiple prostate stones, transperineal total prostatectomy can be performed to remove the prostate and stones. Bilateral seminal vesicle resection may be necessary if needed.
(3) For large, multiple stones accompanied by prostate hyperplasia, suprapubic prostate and stone enucleation is recommended. However, surgery is more challenging for patients with periprostatic inflammation.
