Features: The common name of Megalobrama amblycephala is "bream". In fact, China's bream species are divided into two genera and three species: Megalobrama and Culter, including Megalobrama amblycephala (Changchun bream) in the Megalobrama genus, Culter triacanthus (triangular bream) and Megalobrama amblycephala (group head bream) in the Culter genus. Ancient texts like Compendium of Materia Medica already recorded "bream is flat, bream is square," indicating that people have long recognized the difference between "bream" and "bream." Due to their similar appearances, people habitually refer to them as "bream." In 1955, Chinese taxonomist Yi Bolu, based on the experience of fishermen and comparative studies in taxonomy and morphology, distinguished Megalobrama amblycephala and Culter triacanthus, establishing new names for them.
