Patient's question:
Hello, I am a college student. My scrotum has been drooping for a year, and I haven't paid much attention to it. Occasionally, my classmates mentioned it was a disease, and that's when I started to worry.Looking up information about this, I found that although my scrotum is drooping, there is no pain, swelling, or fullness. It doesn't resemble varicocele either. It feels a bit better in cold weather. I've always suspected it might be due to excessive masturbation. After each session, I feel uncomfortable, especially when lying in bed at night, as my thighs often squeeze the scrotum uncomfortably.
I want to ask: how serious is this condition? If it is a disease, can it be cured?
Doctor's answer:
If your testicles are one large and one small, one high and one low, with little difference, it is normal. The testicles contain a large number of curved seminiferous tubules, interspersed with Leydig cells. The scrotum expands when hot and contracts when cold. In hot weather or when wearing too warm clothing, it appears loose and droopy, while in cold weather or when dressed insufficiently, it contracts and shrinks. Therefore, if there are no other discomforts, a normal drooping testicle is normal. However, if accompanied by symptoms such as pain or foreign body sensation, it may indicate the possibility of varicocele, orchitis, epididymitis, etc., and should be taken seriously.
