What are the early symptoms of prostatitis?

Patient's question:

Recently, I've been going to the bathroom more frequently. I'm not sure if it's prostatitis. Could you please tell me what other early symptoms of prostatitis are?

Doctor's answer:

Frequent urination, urinary urgency, increased nocturia, and urge incontinence. Frequent urination is an early sign of the disease, especially the increase in nocturia is clinically significant. Generally, the frequency of nocturia often parallels the severity of the disease. An elderly person who previously did not wake up at night to urinate, now urinating 1 to 2 times per night, often reflects the onset of early obstruction. From urinating 2 times per night to 4 to 5 times per night or even more, it indicates the progression and worsening of the condition.
