Patient's question:
Moderate varicocele, the treatment has always been ineffective. What should I do if I have moderate varicocele?Doctor's answer:
Hello: Varicocele is classified into three degrees. In mild cases, dilated veins cannot be palpated locally, only discomfort is felt. In moderate cases, dilated veins can be palpated when standing, but they are not visible externally. In severe cases, dilated veins in the scrotum can be seen in a worm-like or clustered pattern. The treatment of varicocele: Mild cases can be managed conservatively, which involves rest, wearing tight underwear, reducing strenuous exercise, and appropriately using blood-activating medications. However, moderate to severe cases, or those accompanied by infertility or abnormal semen, require surgery. This is because varicocele obstructs blood, leading to impaired blood circulation in the testes, which disrupts normal sperm production and secretion functions. Over time, this can cause testicular atrophy and loss of all functions.
