How long does it usually take for epididymitis to be cured?

Patient's question:

Got epididymitis, more than a month now. Both intravenous saline for inflammation and medication have been administered, but there's still no significant improvement. The doctor said it wouldn't heal quickly. Today, I went to the hospital for a urine test, and surprisingly, there was blood. The previous tests showed no problems. I'm feeling a bit of lower back pain. What could be causing this?

Doctor's answer:

Hello: Epididymitis tends to recur easily, so treatment must be thorough. Traditional Chinese Medicine methods can be considered.
The basic formula consists of: Polygonum multiflorum 20g, Prunella vulgaris 10g, Smilax glabra 10g, Myroxylon fragrans 10g, Acronychia fragrans 10g, Ligusticum chuanxiong 10g, Paeonia lactiflora 10g, Persicae Semen 10g, Angelica sinensis 10g. If the tongue is red with yellow greasy coating and the pulse is slippery or rapid, add Talc 10g, Polygonum aviculare 10g, and Lonicera japonica 10g. If there is insufficient kidney yin, remove Smilax glabra and Prunella vulgaris, and add Rehmannia glutinosa 20g, Dendrobium candidum 10g, and Dipsacum febrifugum 10g. Take one dose daily, divided into two servings of 150ml each.
Boil the leftover herbs to make 500ml of decoction for local application and washing, combined with local physical therapy. Treat for 10 days as one course, and observe for 3 to 6 courses. Clinical observation and statistics show a total effective rate of 92.6% and an average treatment duration of 3.2 courses.
