What should I do if there is a lack of sperm?

Patient's question:

I recently don't know why my lower body is very uncomfortable, and I'm not getting morning erections anymore. What should I do if the amount of sperm is low?

Doctor's answer:

Hello: The common causes of oligospermia include: (1) Congenital testicular dysgenesis or cryptorchidism leading to impaired spermatogenesis (2) Varicocele, hydrocele of the tunica vaginalis (3) Inflammation of the reproductive tract (4) Immunosuppression and endocrine disorders (5) Chromosomal abnormalities, especially sex chromosome aberrations, which severely affect sperm density and motility (6) The use of drugs that affect spermatogenesis, as well as factors such as insecticides, heavy metals, radiation, smoking, and alcohol intoxication, can all inhibit sperm production. However, there is a subset of patients for whom no cause of sperm reduction can be identified through various examinations, and this is referred to as idiopathic oligospermia. Different causes require different treatment methods.
