Author: Shi Hui (Yuan Dynasty)
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1998-12-01
Features: The Tale of the Hidden Chamber, originally titled The Moon Worshipper's Tale. Regarding the authorship of this book, past literature often attributes it to Shi Hui of the Yuan Dynasty, styled Qunmei. He Lianggong Jun in The Four Friends' Studio Discourses believed The Moon Worshipper's Tale was "composed by Shi Junmei of the Yuan Dynasty." Later, figures like Wang Shizhen, Zang Maoxun, and Niu Shaoya also held this view. However, in The Record of the Ghosts, the entry under "Shi Hui" does not mention him as the author of The Moon Worshipper's Tale; while Lü Tiancheng in The Play Critique stated, "This tale is said to be written by Shi Junmei, but there is no solid evidence." Modern scholar Wang Guowei, however, believed The Moon Worshipper's Tale originated from a Ming Dynasty author. As a result, the authorship of The Moon Worshipper's Tale remains an unresolved mystery, with no definitive evidence to this day. For now, it is tentatively attributed to Shi Hui.
