The Analects of Confucius: Collected Interpretations - (Complete Four Volumes)

Author: Cheng Shude compiled, Cheng Junying, Jiang Jianyuan proofread
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2006-11-01
Features: The New Compendium of the Masters of the Hundred Schools collects works from the pre-Qin to the Five Dynasties, with a focus on those closely related to the study of philosophy and the history of thought. Some works not belonging to the Zib section, such as Ban Gu's Baihu Tongyi, are included because they are closely related to the study of philosophy and the history of thought. The entire work is divided into two volumes. The first volume includes the same works as the old edition of the Compendium of the Masters of the Hundred Schools, which are frequently read or consulted by general researchers. Each work selects the best available annotated edition to date. For a very few works that still lack annotations, annotations are provided separately. Some works include multiple annotated editions, each with its own strengths. To maintain consistency in style, generally only annotated editions written in classical or colloquial classical Chinese are included, except for a few exceptions. The main text and annotations of each work are uniformly punctuated with modern-style punctuation, and errors in printing or typesetting are corrected. The second volume collects other works outside the first volume. Most of them do not have existing editions. For those that require annotations, annotations should be added. The rest are selected for collation using better versions.
