How long does sperm survive?

Patient's question:

Medical Description: My girlfriend helped me with her hands because she was in her fertile period, and I ejaculated outside of her body. After that, she wiped her hands with toilet paper without washing them. About 5 minutes later, my girlfriend said she touched her vagina with her hands. I want to ask: If the sperm on her fingers wasn't completely wiped off, would touching her vagina with her hands cause the sperm to swim into her body and lead to pregnancy? Since she was in her fertile period and the sperm had only been outside of her body for about 5 minutes, I don't know if they have died yet.
History of Treatment and Effectiveness: No treatment history.
What kind of help do you want: Please have a doctor answer.

Doctor's answer:

Generally, the sperm that a male ejects can survive in a woman's vagina for no more than 8 hours. Only a small portion of the sperm can survive, and they continue to move forward. When the sperm enters the uterine cavity of a woman, only 1% to 5% of the sperm remain compared to the number of sperm at the time of ejaculation. Many sperm are killed in the process. By the time the sperm reaches the fallopian tubes, only one or two sperm can combine with the egg. The remaining sperm die within 24 to 36 hours. Therefore, sperm from a week before menstruation theoretically cannot survive after menstruation.
