What disease is it when there is a white lump on the glans?

Patient's question:

What disease is it if the glans has white bumps? Does it need to be treated? How is it treated? Is it contagious?

Doctor's answer:

Hello; According to your description, it may be genital herpes.
This condition is self-limiting and typically resolves within 1-2 weeks. The goal of treatment is to prevent future recurrences. Currently, there is no specific medication for this condition. The treatment principles are to shorten the duration of the illness, prevent secondary infections, and reduce recurrence.
1. Local therapy: The principle is to promote drying, astringency, and protection of the affected area to prevent secondary infections. Options include applying a 2% gentian violet solution, or using 10% bismuth subnitrate (dermatol), zinc oxide ointment or paste, polygonum multiflorum and psoralea corylifolia ointment, 0.5% neomycin ointment, or 0.25%-0.1% idoxuridine (IDU) ointment, or a 5% idoxuridine dimethyl sulfoxide solution (for skin herpes). For facial lesions, 10% aluminum acetate or zinc-copper compound can also be used.
2. Systemic treatment: The first principle is to prevent the activation of HSV and even eliminate the virus. The second principle is to regulate immunity to prevent recurrence. Options include intravenous or oral acyclovir, oral lizhuwei, intramuscular interferon, and intramuscular interleukin-Ⅱ. In the treatment of recurrent genital herpes, we use 3 million units of interferon produced by the Biological Technology Center of the Fourth Military Medical University, administered intramuscularly once daily, with 10 treatments per course. Three courses are given in total, with appropriate combination use of interleukin-Ⅱ, levofloxacin, or colistin. 95% of patients do not experience recurrence.
