Patient's question:
I had a circumcision surgery yesterday evening. This morning when I woke up, I noticed that my glans is also swollen, and my urine is becoming scattered, not a steady stream. What is going on? Is this normal? Thank you!!!
Doctor's answer:
Hello, if the mild edema after surgery is not a big problem, it can be caused by trauma during the surgery. You can wait for it to disappear. You can receive intravenous anti-inflammatory drugs for three to five days to prevent inflammation and infection. The wound dressing should be changed for the second time two days after surgery, and the wound exudate and fluid should be cleared promptly. After that, the dressing change frequency can be determined based on the amount of wound exudate, changing every two or three days. If you cannot receive intravenous fluids, you can take oral cephalosporin and metronidazole tablets for a few days to treat and prevent inflammation and infection. Rest in bed for a few days to avoid worsening the edema. Avoid spicy, stagnant blood, seafood, and other irritating foods. Avoid smoking and alcohol.
