Is it beneficial for a 70-year-old person to have an orchiectomy?

Patient's question:

I am 70 years old, and I have had benign prostatic hyperplasia for over ten years. I haven't had sexual activity for nearly a decade. The testicles are to blame. Can they be removed? Is there any benefit or drawback to it?

Doctor's answer:

Not recommended for removal.
The source of testosterone in the body will be cut off, and the level of testosterone in the blood will plummet or even disappear. At this point, the small amount of androgen secreted by the adrenal cortex, whether in terms of quality or quantity, cannot be compared to testosterone secreted by the testes. Therefore, the ability to engage in sexual activity is lost.
