Patient's question:
My husband has small bumps on his testicles, right on the skin, similar in size to acne on the face. They don't hurt or itch. What could this be? Will they grow more?First follow-up question: I have vaginitis. Could it be caused by me? Will it affect me?
Doctor's answer:
As you described, it seems like folliculitis, with a pimple-like growth on the hair follicles outside the testicles, presenting as red papules accompanied by pain or itching. It is caused by a bacterial infection and is contagious. Topical treatments such as povidone-iodine for disinfection and fusidic acid ointment (Fusidex) can be applied. Oral medications like roxithromycin capsules, minocycline capsules, and ofloxacin tablets (e.g., Lervi) may also be prescribed. Avoid irritating foods, eat more fruits and vegetables, maintain good hygiene, bathe frequently, and change clothes often to prevent transmission.
