How can we treat rickets better?

Patient's question:

Both feet are outwardly X-shaped. In March 2010, there was a bit of it, but I didn't care much. I took some calcium supplements at home, and now both feet are still outwardly X-shaped. About the past treatment and its effects, I had a thorough check-up at the hospital yesterday, but the test results haven't come out yet. How should I be treated for the best outcome? Which hospital is good for treating rickets without any aftereffects? Which department should I go to for treatment?

Doctor's answer:

Purpose: Based on control during remission to prevent skeletal deformities.
Principle of treatment: Depending on the need, calcium and vitamin D should be digested. Medication treatment is primarily based on oral vitamin D. High-dose treatment requires strict recovery confirmation. For severe rickets with complications or those unable to take oral medication, high-dose vitamin D can be administered intramuscularly, and preventive dosage should be adjusted after 3 months.
A follow-up check should be conducted one month after treatment. If there are no signs of complete recovery in clinical manifestations, blood calcium levels, and skeletal X-rays, differentiation from vitamin D-resistant rickets should be considered.
Surgical treatment may be considered for severe skeletal deformities to correct them with surgery.
