Features: Many collections of Gaokao (China's college entrance examination) questions or Gaokao questions combined with Gaokao simulation tests already exist in the book market, but the concept of this series is entirely new: we not only demand that the content be lively, the format be innovative, the positioning be high-end, and the taste be refined, but we also place greater emphasis on applicability and ease of use, ensuring that teachers find it convenient to use and students gain significant benefits. To this end, we strive to achieve the following points in the writing process:
1. Carefully planned Gaokao review
The taboo is: repeatedly practicing problems you already know and consistently failing to solve problems you don’t. To prevent students from wasting time on excessive and unnecessary repetitive practice, the selection of problems in this book is meticulously curated. Not only do the questions originate from Gaokao and simulation tests from top schools, which are the result of the collective effort and wisdom of numerous question-setting experts, but they are also carefully selected by teachers who have long been engaged in the Gaokao frontline and have extensive research on the exam. Our principle is: let students solve a small number of problems while mastering typical problem-solving methods.
2. Applicability and ease of use
For the vast number of Gaokao and simulation questions, we only select problems with high relevance. This ensures that the content targets fundamental knowledge, skills, and methods, while also focusing on improving abilities. To facilitate use by teachers and students, we label the difficulty level of each question: A for basic, B for intermediate, and C for advanced. The arrangement system is as follows: for science subjects, it is closely linked to teaching time, with questions selected by lesson; for liberal arts subjects, it is paired with units.
3. Scientific categorization
The results of the Gaokao not only determine who goes to university but also decide which tier of university they attend—whether it’s a top-tier or a general one. Therefore, the questions must have a gradient, and the scores must be differentiated. What then determines the scoring gap? Practice shows that the performance on intermediate-level questions is most critical. Thus, in addition to reorganizing the questions according to the new Gaokao Examination Instructions in terms of content and sequence, we also consider the overall arrangement of questions of the same content, including their order and difficulty level, to ensure that the proportion of basic, intermediate, and advanced questions in the entire book remains at 2:6:2.
