Features: The 19th century was a turbulent and diverse era in terms of thought. Scientificism, humanism, instrumental rationality, and various trends such as individualized and socialized human development surged and flourished. These ideas drove social transformations, greatly accelerating the course of human history. Ancient China also moved toward openness under a passive state, deeply influenced by these thoughts, which continue to resonate even today. In the new century, how should we inherit and reflect on these ideas? Currently, Chinese universities are growing stronger. However, our college students and even our intellectual class have not maintained the clarity and personal dignity they should in major issues. This spiritual condition may stem from a lack of knowledge or misunderstanding of human civilization. In light of this, this series selectively compiles classic intellectual documents throughout human history, aiming to provide fundamental values for Chinese social life, particularly higher education, and to offer basic concepts and knowledge for China's intellectual class, especially college students, in order to elevate the spiritual realm of Chinese citizens.
