This edition of the Duden Picture Dictionary, published in collaboration between the Commercial Press and Oxford University Press, is based on the fully revised third edition of the German-language Duden Bildw?rterbuch (also known as the famous Duden Picture Dictionary). The English version is a direct translation from the German text, while the French, Japanese, and Spanish versions are translated from the English text.

For this edition of the Duden Picture Dictionary published by our institution, we have not only provided Chinese translations for each entry but also included an alphabetically arranged foreign language index at the end of the book (in future editions, a Chinese index arranged by Pinyin will also be added if necessary). The Chinese translations were provided by the original publishers, but some of the translations of specialized terms and object names differ from the commonly used names in mainland China. Therefore, we have made some modifications to the original translations, and we take full responsibility for any inaccuracies. For some images in the original book, with the consent of Oxford University Press, we have also made necessary technical adjustments. However, due to the broad scope of the original book, which mostly covers Western affairs, if there are still imperfections in the translation, we welcome feedback from.
