Features: This book will help you expand your passive vocabulary. You will learn to replace difficult words with easier ones while reading. But always remember that you cannot freely substitute related words (related words) in speaking and writing. While doing the exercises in this book, you will find that you can easily and quickly expand your passive vocabulary. The words learned in this way will help you understand a large number of other related words. The last exercise in Chapters 2 to 9 will demonstrate methods for adding or changing the beginning or end of words. Words from the previous chapters will be used, and you can review their meanings. Remember one thing: as a high-level English learner, the biggest problem in reading is vocabulary. Complex grammatical structures only occasionally cause trouble, usually due to unfamiliar words. You cannot learn to actively use all words, and you don’t need to have active knowledge of all words while reading. You must expand your passive vocabulary in the fastest and most effective way. This is exactly what this book will help you do. The method of learning passive vocabulary works best while reading. If you don’t continue reading after completing the exercises, you will gradually forget the words you just learned. Read materials that interest you as much as possible. Whenever you encounter a word you learned in this book but have forgotten the corresponding keyword, look it up in the index of this book instead of a dictionary. The next time you encounter the word, it will be easier to remember the corresponding keyword, while the dictionary definition is less memorable. Words often have more than one meaning. The keywords in this book usually represent the most common meanings of related words. However, you may occasionally find that using the keyword for substitution doesn’t work. If the meaning of the word is important for understanding the reading material, you may need to look up a dictionary to see its other meanings. As you read more, these words and their derivatives will become your friends. Gradually, you will gain more active knowledge of the more useful words. Only then, and only then, should you try to use these words in conversation and writing. This book does not possess extraordinary magic. You must study, do exercises, and read. However, this method is indeed effective. You will find that you learn words faster than before. But, like everything else in life, the results you achieve with this book depend directly on the effort you put in.
