Therefore, in the process of writing this book, we strive to elucidate the main threads of Marxist literary thought from different stages of historical development, and to elucidate the basic spirit and main significance of the views and insights of classical Marxist writers from the perspectives of literary trends, literary movements, and literary history, in order to avoid rigidifying certain theoretical viewpoints and individual conclusions. We believe that doing so will help us adhere to the basic principles of Marxist literary theory in both theory and practice, and will further help overcome the long-standing tendency of dogmatism in the study of Marxist literary theory.
