Publishing Date: 2005-01-01
Features: This edition of the Pharmacopoeia, based on the theory of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment, has standardized the "Indications" section for the included traditional Chinese medicine preparations, avoiding phenomena that may lead to misleading medication. It highlights the distinctive features of TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment. At the same time, it pays attention to the differences between TCM "syndromes" and Western medicine "diseases," such as "different syndromes under the same disease" and "different diseases under the same syndrome." It closely links TCM "syndromes" with corresponding Western medicine "diseases," demonstrating the scientific and accurate expression of indications, providing clinicians with a reliable understanding of the functions and indications of traditional Chinese medicine preparations and promoting the healthy development of TCM in the new era. This edition of the Pharmacopoeia has also improved its working procedures. In addition to adopting traditional methods to solicit opinions, it has for the first time publicly posted the revised appendices and items on the website of the National Pharmacopoeia Commission for three months, seeking broader feedback from various stakeholders. The feedback and suggestions have been submitted to the relevant specialized committees for review to ensure the feasibility and practicality of the standards and methods of this edition of the Pharmacopoeia, striving for openness, fairness, and impartiality in the compilation process. This edition of the Pharmacopoeia has for the first time adopted a double-column format for printing and layout to facilitate use. Significant improvements have also been made in printing quality and binding to reflect the solemnity and aesthetic appeal of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
