Publish Date: 2004-02-01
Features: Since its publication in 1997, the "English-Chinese Technical Science Dictionary" (Comprehensive Edition with Annotations) has been highly praised and welcomed by readers and society, and has been reprinted multiple times. Over the past 7 years, especially since the beginning of the 21st century, with societal progress and the development of science and technology, many new terms have emerged in fields such as economic management, computer technology, network and communication technology, biotechnology, new materials, and pharmaceutical technology. The definitions of many "old" terms have also changed. In response to reader requests, we have contacted relevant authors to supplement new terms and updated definitions, and have revised issues identified. The revisions in this edition are primarily reflected in the following aspects. In fact, since the publication of this edition, revision work has never stopped. Especially in recent years, the effort to supplement new terms and definitions based on societal and technological developments, as well as to revise outdated or inappropriate content in the original book, has accelerated. The chief editor, Mr. Zhang Lian, the deputy editor, Mr. Li Zhichong, and the author, Mr. Tu Yuen, have worked diligently, making significant contributions to the revision of this book. In July 2003, after the completion of the full manuscript, the passing of Mr. Zhang Lian was a great loss to this dictionary and the chemical publishing industry. His persistent dedication, rigorous scholarly demeanor, and meticulous work ethic will inspire us to continue improving the revision work in accordance with the five suggestions he outlined in the "Preface to the Second Edition" and to promptly present the second edition of this dictionary to the readers as a tribute to his memory, fulfilling the widespread desire for its release.
