To meet the urgent need for offering high school Chinese elective courses, the Center for Chinese Language and Overseas Chinese Language Education at Beijing Normal University, in collaboration with Renmin Literature Publishing House, has jointly launched the "High School Chinese Elective Course Resource Series." Based on rigorous research and expert deliberation, the selected topics, the "curriculum design" jointly developed by scholars and experienced curriculum developers, as well as Renmin Literature Publishing House's accumulated version resources and brand advantages, effectively ensure the authority, reliability, and practicality of this series. The "High School Chinese Elective Course Resource Series" can be used in conjunction with compulsory and elective textbooks of various versions, or directly as elective course textbooks. It is also highly suitable for students' extracurricular reading and as a reference book for teachers. Greek mythology primarily consists of two parts: the stories of gods and heroes. The stories of gods mainly include tales about the creation of the world, the origin of gods, the genealogy of gods, the changes in the heavenly hierarchy, the origin of humans, and the daily activities of gods. Heroic legends are recollections of ancient history, social life, and struggles between humans and nature. Heroes are regarded as descendants of gods and humans, essentially representing the collective strength and wisdom of a community. Heroic legends have formed many systems centered around different families, with the main systems including Heracles' Twelve Great Deeds, Theseus' efforts to eliminate public evils, Jason's quest for the Golden Fleece, and the Trojan War. Mythology also includes a portion of legends about productive knowledge, such as Prometheus teaching humans how to build houses, navigate, and treat illnesses. Many myths also describe the conditions of daily life and the customs and traditions of ancient Greeks.
