Features: Abraham Lincoln, born in 1809 into a poor American immigrant family, had a deep love for reading from a young age, yet he only attended school for one year. The vast land and life became his best teachers. He was resolute, brave, upright, and humble. As a lawyer, he helped the weak and aided the poor; as a president, he upheld democracy and called for peace. He freed thousands upon thousands of American Black slaves. He was remembered in history like the Declaration of Emancipation, and he was affectionately called the "People's President" by generations. Marx once said of Lincoln, "He was not easily intimidated by difficulties, nor was he blinded by success. He moved steadfastly toward his great goals, thus avoiding hasty actions; he advanced steadily without retreating; in short, he was a rare individual who had reached great heights while still maintaining his noble qualities. This outstanding and morally upright man was so humble that the world only discovered him to be a hero after his tragic death."
