Features: How to teach Chinese well, how to learn texts effectively, and how to achieve ideal results and scores—these questions have long troubled people. Eminent individuals have continuously strived to explore them. As a text in the Chinese language curriculum, what should be taught and learned from it must be clearly defined. If not, deviations can easily occur, accumulating into a major issue that affects the quality of Chinese teaching and the foundation of basic education. Since the 1980s, the author has been fortunate to be invited to participate in the compilation and review of Chinese textbooks and teacher teaching materials published by the People's Education Press. During the process of writing Chinese textbooks, the author has been reflecting on the aforementioned issues. After years of persistent exploration and refinement, the author's conclusion is that learning Chinese is not only about mastering words and phrases and understanding content, but also about learning writing and language—comprehensive learning is essential, with nothing left out. Mastering words and phrases requires reinforcement, understanding content requires guidance, writing needs correction, and language requires construction. The focus of reading is guided by the purpose of reading. Therefore, learning words and phrases, content, writing, and language must be done step by step to ensure that each aspect achieves good results. The compilation of this book is based on this principle.
