Features: To improve reading skills, it is necessary to strengthen two aspects of training: comprehension and speed. In the past, we often used analytical intensive reading, but now we should adopt comprehension-based speed reading. Through extensive reading, we can purposefully, systematically, and methodically cultivate comprehension skills. On the basis of comprehension, we continuously increase reading speed, expand vocabulary, broaden knowledge, and improve reading accuracy. This book is designed to achieve the above goals and has the following three features:
1. Diverse themes and genres.
2. Scientifically arranged exercises. In addition to reading comprehension questions, the test structure includes "Guidance on Excellent Literature," "Highlights of Excellent Literature," and "Sample Question Analysis," enabling readers to read and learn each passage thoroughly.
3. Moderate difficulty. According to the junior high school English curriculum standards, the vocabulary difficulty of the selected articles in this book is generally controlled at 3%–5%. Students can guess the meaning of these words while reading, but it does not significantly affect their overall understanding of the passage.
