Features: The teaching reform experimental textbooks will be student-centered, competency-based, and employment-oriented, comprehensively promoting quality education. They will focus on cultivating students' professional abilities, enabling them to acquire the skills for continuous learning, obtain relevant technical or vocational qualifications, and contribute high-quality laborers who apply knowledge practically, demonstrate dedication to their careers, and work diligently to the prosperity and development of the tourism industry. The teaching reform experimental textbooks will adhere to the following vocational education principles:
1. Vocational Education Nature: Integrate moral and professional awareness education; reflect employment orientation to help students establish a correct career choice mindset; cultivate dedication to one's job, teamwork spirit, and entrepreneurial spirit; and foster safety and environmental awareness.
2. Advanced Content: Use new perspectives and ideas to review and explain classic content; adapt to economic and social development and technological progress by updating teaching materials in a timely manner to reflect new knowledge, technologies, processes, and methods.
3. Teaching Applicability: Align teaching content with professional training objectives and basic curriculum requirements; use appropriate materials and quantities, adhering to the principle of "less but better"; ensure depth and difficulty suitable for students' actual level; and avoid unnecessary overlaps with adjacent courses.
4. Practical Knowledge: Emphasize competency-based learning, application as the core, and "essential and sufficient" content; closely connect with real-life and production practices; enhance teaching relevance, and align with corresponding vocational qualification standards.
5. Rational Structure: Design a logical and progressive textbook system that matches students' psychological characteristics and cognitive and skill development patterns; adopt innovative structures and formats to reflect teachers' leadership and students' subjectivity; and adapt to advanced teaching methods and tools.
6. Flexible Use: Demonstrate flexible teaching content, tiered teaching requirements, and modular textbook structures; facilitate targeted and personalized instruction.
Currently, the National Tourism Secondary Vocational Education Textbooks have been included in the Ministry of Education's Vocational Education Textbook Development Plan (2004–2007) and have been recommended as official teaching materials by the Ministry of Education's Vocational and Adult Education Department, achieving a smooth connection between industry education and vocational education.
