Student Reading High School Edition 2006 Best Works

Author: Wang Xianfeng
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2007-01-01
Features: A farmer happily handed over a family heirloom—a half-set of the bound edition of Classics for Chinese Reading—to the author who came to borrow books in the rain, becoming a testament to the selfless donation and trust of his hometown people toward a stranger (Xiong Zhaozheng, An Experience of Visiting a Bookstore). When the mind is calm, a thread gently flows out from the pen tip, like a silkworm spinning silk, or a sequence of melodious notes flowing from a flute (Feng Jicai, Water Ink Characters). It is a flowing house, a home that adapts to any situation, a dwelling that can move with the body and soul, shielding us from wind and rain and helping us shed dust, bustling streets, trivialities, and noise (Zhang Wei, Tent). There is no fierce whirlwind, no illusory sea of clouds, no fleeting rainbow, but there are houses with smoke rising from their chimneys, joyful crowds, lush green barley fields, and the fields of harvest (Zhang Kankang, Sea of Clouds).
Nearly 100 authors, including Xiong Zhaozheng, Chi Zijian, Feng Jicai, Zhang Wei, Li Guowen, Zhang Kankang, and Su Qiqi, have contributed over 100 beautiful essays on topics close to high school students' lives, stirring through seven albums: Time Preserved, Essays in Excerpt, Essays in Brilliance, Fiction in Close Reading, Literary Discs, Classics Across Time, and Youthful Masterpieces. Sharp yet graceful, simple yet profound, it is truly a rare feast for reading.
