Features: The importance of reading in English learning is undeniable. In the "English Curriculum Standards" issued by the Ministry of Education, the significance of reading is placed in a prominent position, with detailed regulations on basic reading skills and reading volume. Through research on English exam questions from recent years' junior high school and senior high school entrance exams, it is not difficult to find that the proportion of reading has been increasing year by year. To adapt to the new trends, we have meticulously planned and compiled this series of "New Curriculum English 7-Minute Synchronous Speed Reading Tests" based on the requirements of the new "Curriculum Standards," referring to the demands of junior high and senior high school exams, and starting from the actual needs of students. This series aims to help students consolidate the knowledge learned from textbooks, expand their knowledge, increase the marginal vocabulary not covered in textbooks but frequently appearing in exams, and improve their reading ability and comprehensive English proficiency.
This series is compiled in line with the textbook progress and the ability levels divided by the "Curriculum Standards," organized by units to achieve comprehensive improvement in learning abilities. It has the following features:
Scientific Design: Integrating the latest teaching and application concepts, it trains students to read within a limited time through a concise and orderly training process, cultivating their English reading state and efficient reading habits.
Authentic Experience: The selected reading materials are partially excerpted from newspapers and magazines in Western countries, providing a pure Western context. This series fully overcomes the shortcomings of outdated textbook content and outdated concepts, enhancing students' interest in English and stimulating their creative thinking through lively new materials, vivid new phenomena, and engaging new improvement methods.
Appropriate Difficulty: Each unit's passages are carefully designed with a difficulty ratio of 1 (easy): 2 (medium): 1 (hard). The article difficulty is synchronized with the textbook but also focuses on junior high and senior high school exams, combining teaching and exams.
Rich Genres: Narrative texts are the foundation of English learning, while expository texts and applied texts have become popular in recent years' junior high and senior high school exams. The appropriate use of application texts such as announcements, checklists, and official documents is a distinctive feature of this series.
Innovative Format: This series uses humorous and vivid illustrations, knowledge cards, common proverbs, and famous quotes to enhance the imagery and dimensionality of the articles, creating a personalized learning experience for students.
Based on the practical needs of English teaching, this series is tailor-made for teachers and students as English speed reading tests. The content is scientific, the length is moderate, the difficulty is consistent, and the testing frequency is appropriate. On one hand, it complements daily teaching to reinforce students' knowledge; on the other hand, with the long-term goal of quality education and quality preparation, it improves students' comprehensive qualities and abilities.
It is recommended that readers use this series step by step, following the units of the series and the progress of classroom teaching, to better expand their knowledge and improve their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
