Features: The subject Olympiads for primary and secondary schools (referred to as "subject Olympiads") are a comprehensive, widely participated, and highly influential subject competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China. The subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness of the Olympiads, as well as their emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core content of quality education, which is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of excellent books in this category, the Editorial Department of the Subject Olympiads for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to write and publish a series of Olympiad books, including "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools," covering seven subjects—mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information—with over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, we are considered the most influential in our domestic and international peers and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students. The purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools" series are as follows:
First: High. Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements. It aims to cultivate interest, develop intelligence, and enhance abilities.
Second: Accurate. Scientifically accurate and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
Third: Innovative. The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They collect the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
Fourth: Concise. Selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and attainable. The focus is on generalization and cross-application; multiple solutions, variations, and extensions of single problems are emphasized. It emphasizes training critical thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
Fifth: Renowned. Gathered are distinguished professors from prestigious universities, elite teachers from key secondary schools, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches.
