Features: The subject Olympiad for primary and secondary schools (abbreviated as "subject Olympiad") is one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential student subject competitions in China. The subject Olympiad draws inspiration from and extends the concept of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the Olympiad's strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness, and emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness, which are precisely the core elements of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful study of this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad reading materials titled "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" covering seven subjects—mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information science—with over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are arguably the most influential in their field both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means referencing the new [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means closely aligning with the competition guidelines of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed hierarchically based on the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: Features novel and engaging question types. It compiles the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Selective: Carefully chosen examples are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalization and cross-application; it emphasizes multi-solution, multi-transformation, and multi-question approaches to problems, prioritizing the training of thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from top competitions. The Editorial Board of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited distinguished professors from prestigious universities, elite teachers from key secondary schools, senior teachers, subject leaders, and renowned Olympiad gold medal coaches to contribute to the series.
