Features: Reading and analyzing excellent literature is the unconscious pursuit of linguistic perfection! As the new century approaches, we proudly present to primary and secondary school students a series of books—《21st Century Primary and Secondary School Students "Learning to Write" Series》. This series is designed to complement the supplementary Chinese language textbooks for primary and secondary schools titled 《Composition》. During the writing process, we strive to embody the following characteristics:
1. Targeted Approach. Many students experience slow improvement in their writing skills, and the root cause often lies in inadequate or ill-suited guidance. This series addresses key and challenging issues in primary and secondary school students' writing learning by inviting experienced teachers and experts in composition teaching (research) to provide guidance. Each volume begins with "Expert Messages" and "Master's Foreword," offering guidance and explanations on the content to help students "read model essays" and easily grasp the essence, as well as "learning to write" to continuously improve. This better fulfills the teaching requirements for the writing section stipulated in the Chinese language teaching for primary and secondary schools, truly broadens students' writing horizons, and organically integrates reading and writing to comprehensively and effectively enhance writing skills.
2. Novelty. The model essays selected in this series are newly written by renowned authors and outstanding essays from national competitions and primary and secondary school entrance exams over the past two years. They cover a wide range and full content, offering fresh perspectives and encompassing the rich and diverse lives of families, schools, and society. These essays align with the psychological characteristics and cognitive levels of primary and secondary school students, closely reflecting their emotional world. They represent the best writing level of students at the turn of the century and carry strong contemporary appeal, benefiting students in their learning and imitation.
3. Series Structure. What kind of composition guidance books do primary and secondary school students most desire? This is the key focus of our research in compiling this series. Primary school is the stage for laying a foundation, and composition teaching must align with the psychological characteristics and cognitive levels of young students. Based on this principle, the primary school section revolves around the central theme of "Childlike Innocence and Playfulness" and is divided into four volumes: 《Ordinary People》, 《Familiar Events》, 《Scenes and Things》, and 《Exercises in Fragments》。
For junior high school, which is a phase of accumulation and improvement, students have the opportunity to participate in various composition competitions while preparing for the junior high school entrance exam. These practical activities are organized into four volumes: 《Learning and Accumulating》, 《Exercises in Excellent Compositions》, 《Exam Room Compositions》, and 《Competition Award Winners》。
High school primarily focuses on preparing for the college entrance exam. Following the concept of "Development Level" in the college entrance exam composition requirements and based on the four evaluation criteria for the exam: "literary charm," "innovation," "vivid imagery," and "profound insight," the series is divided into four volumes.
This series thus forms a progressive training program. Renowned educator and veteran of the Chinese language field, Ye Shengtao, once said, "Writing is based on reading." He also stated, "Reading and analyzing excellent literature is the unconscious pursuit of linguistic perfection." We hope this series will explore new paths in this regard, becoming a trusted guide and companion for primary and secondary school students in learning to write!
We also hope that young readers will gain fresh inspiration for writing from this book and elevate their writing skills to new heights!
