Features: The entries in this dictionary include basic English words, general words, loanwords, abbreviations, affixes, compound morphemes, names of organizations, and terms in social sciences and natural sciences. A complete entry in this dictionary may contain the following elements: headword, part of speech, definition, examples, idioms, cross-references, and notes. Most entries do not include all of the above, with the main parts being the headword, part of speech, and definition. Entries are arranged in alphabetical order. Words with the same spelling but different etymologies or meanings are listed as separate entries, marked with numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.) in the upper right corner of the headword. The headword can be a single word, a compound word, a phrase, an abbreviation, an affix, or a compound morpheme. Headwords are printed in black bold type. If a headword has multiple spellings, only the most common one or a few are listed. The spelling of headwords is generally in American English. When a singular noun headword is defined in a way that requires a plural form, the plural form should be noted before the definition. Abbreviation headwords may only list the full form without Chinese translation to direct readers to the full form entry, or they may include a Chinese translation after the full form.
