Features: "Modern Practical Japanese (Basic 1)" is one of the fundamental Japanese teaching materials for science and engineering majors in ordinary higher education institutions. To date, China has yet to launch a Japanese teaching material that truly meets the above social needs. Software colleges and corporate training units are eagerly awaiting the release of a new Japanese teaching material that can provide targeted services. In this regard, we adhere to the fundamental concept that foreign language teaching must serve the national economy and social development, and have organized the compilation of this "Modern Practical Japanese" series. The "Modern Practical Japanese" series is a university-level Japanese teaching material for students of science and engineering, meticulously designed and written to meet the practical needs of these students. This textbook focuses on exploring new models that naturally integrate technology and Japanese teaching. It insists on using IT concepts that are relevant to various science and engineering disciplines as the main thread, campus life, job hunting, and corporate culture as the carrier of teaching materials, and aims to help students learn and master basic daily expressions and the fundamental knowledge and skills of workplace Japanese language communication, supplemented by learning and memorizing IT professional vocabulary and related common sentence patterns. It is guided by the newly revised "Teaching Requirements for the Second Foreign Language Course in University Japanese" issued by the Higher Education University Foreign Language Teaching and Research Guidance Committee. Through bold reforms and pragmatic efforts, we strive to present a new type of Japanese teaching material that truly adapts to the needs of economic and social development and keeps pace with the times, thereby better implementing the spirit of the newly proposed "Aligning Foreign Language Education with Vocational Education and Serving Social Development" proposed by the Ministry of Education, and contributing to the reform of foreign language teaching and the development of teaching materials in China.
