Publishing Date: 2000-01-01
Features: This edition is one of the research achievements of the Ministry of Education's "Research and Practice on the Teaching Content and Curriculum System Reform of Higher Engineering Chemistry Courses for the 21st Century" (Non-Chemical Engineering). It is one of the first sets of Ministry of Education-oriented 21st-century curriculum textbooks. The second edition of Modern Chemistry Basics is a higher education engineering (non-chemical engineering) multi-credit professional basic chemistry textbook compiled on the basis of summarizing five years of teaching experience. On the basis of maintaining the original book's optimized and reorganized framework, structure, content, and features of the four major basic chemistry courses, some chapters and content have been appropriately adjusted. The number of chapters has been increased, and the content has been made more concise.
This book consists of 21 chapters, with main content including: the aggregation state of matter, theories of matter structure; chemical thermodynamics, the second law of thermodynamics, and thermochemistry with energy; phase equilibrium; chemical equilibrium and chemical analysis titration methods; electrolyte solutions; redox reactions and electrochemistry; chemical kinetics; interfacial phenomena and colloidal solutions; elemental, inorganic compounds, and metals and inorganic materials; fundamentals of organic chemistry, fundamentals of polymer chemistry, and their materials and biomolecules; modern analytical testing techniques; environment and chemistry. Each chapter includes review questions and exercises, and the back of the book provides answers to calculation problems, appendices, an English-Chinese index, and references. This book can be used as a foundational textbook for non-chemical engineering majors with multiple credits, such as geology, geochemistry, geographical science, mineral resources exploration, petroleum engineering, metallurgy, casting, materials science and engineering, environmental science and engineering, ammunition engineering and explosion technology, and recycling. It can also serve as a basic chemistry textbook for near-chemical and chemical engineering majors, such as pharmaceuticals and life sciences.
